Beginnings

Beginnings are weird in some ways. How do we start when we don't know where we're going or how to get there?

I created a single resource for a group of grade ones and twos that I taught a year and a half ago. I liked it, so I put it on Teachers Pay Teachers. I sold one. I sold another. And soon I'd sold ten. It wasn't much but hey, it was a start. I checked my product stats for the first time ever and realized that a free resource I had made had been viewed 536 times, wish listed 11 times and downloaded 295 times. WOW! Was it a good resource? I hadn't thought so. It was simple. A worksheet I'd made in publisher where the sentences have errors in them and the students get to correct them. I gave it a catchy title ("My Teacher Made a Mistake, and I Will Fix It"). I thought it was cute, kids like to know that teachers make mistakes too, and the idea of correcting them appeals to a lot of students.

I realized that my store was getting more hits than I thought. So I thought why not make more resources and see if it would go anywhere? The resource that was paid was a simple novel study based on "A Bear Called Paddington". Paddington is an entire series. I figured I could read the next book and create a series of novel studies. Now I have two more Paddington resources, and ideas for the rest of Michael Bond's beloved series, along with an expanded version of the Teacher Made a Mistake.

Where will all of this get me? I don't know. Like I said, beginnings are weird that way, we start something with an idea, and yet, sometimes, we have no idea where it will go.

So here I am starting out, trying to see if this goes anywhere. If it doesn't oh well, I've made some cool resources and some people have enjoyed them, if it does, then all the better. I hope you'll join me, check out my resources and together we'll see where this adventure goes.

Paddington Bear

This whole idea began because I decided to read Paddington Bear to my grade 1 class, and could not find an age appropriate novel study,...
